Some homes are practically historic landmarks. What’s the oldest structure you’ve professionally reviewed?
Did a 1790 timber-frame that felt like a “historic landmark” — my go-to is to probe the sills from the inside with an awl at corners and chimney bases to catch rot masked by clapboards… IR helps, but on these, wood-to-stone joints fool it, so I trust the awl first.
